Siargao Island....
...... is a beautiful island only three hours, by boat, eastward, from Surigao, Mindanao, Philippines.

At this web site you will find vacation properties that conform to the minimum wage and working conditions standards in the Philippines.  There are many beach resorts that do not conform to these minimum standards.

Click here for worker-fair resorts and then spend some time on the site learning more about  this island and some about the working conditions in the Philippines.

Give it some of your time

Dear visitor

There are labour standards about minimum wage and working hours in the Philippines.

Learn about these standards at this web site and look for a beach resort or hotel where they live up to those.

At many beach resorts the conditions are very far from these standards.

We all know that everyone needs a fair division between work, sleep and recreation.

Everyone needs a day off sometimes, some free hours in daylight and time of their own, with family and friends.

At some beach resorts at Siargao Island the employees work up to 15 hours a day, every day of the year, for less than half of the minimum wage standard.

Talk to the crew at the beach resorts, hotels and restaurants you are visiting and ask about these matters.

This friendly and nice people deserve at least what the official labour standard says.

As a visitor you can make a choice here. Try to find a beach resort who lives up to these standards. If it’s hard to find one, have a constructive discussion with the owner. Tell him or her in a friendly way what your opinion is.

You will find the “Manual of Labour Standard” and the minimum wage for each region of the Philippines at the links above.

Please give these matters some thought and some of your time.

Thank you!
